Denbigh
The market town of Denbigh is a 15 minute drive from The Old Mill. Denbigh has a range of useful amenities including, supermarkets, banks, takeaways and a post office. Denbigh also has a great selection of smaller independent shops, galleries and eateries. Denbigh castle is well with a visit and walking the walls a must for spectacular views.
Conwy
The beautiful harbour and walled town of Conwy is well worth a visit. The approach into the town towards the imposing castle, is stunning and never fails to impress.
There is a lovely range of boutique shops, small art and craft galleries, and a good range of cafes to relax in. It's a great place to pick up a souvenir, or enjoy fish and chips at the harbour-side. You can also pay an entry fee to explore the castle itself - Fabulous views from the turrets!
Prestatyn & Rhyl
Prestatyn has a convenient Retail Park with M&S, Next and Tesco amongst others. The town centre features a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops and outside of the town centre Prestatyn has a long, wide promenade which is perfect for walking and cycling. Park at the Nova Centre (Swimming pool, café and sports centre) where you can enjoy miles of sandy beach. Further along from Prestatyn you can experience the bright lights of Rhyl - with amusement arcades, fair rides and the SC2 water park. Rhyl is also home to a great new theatre (Pavillion) and a VUE cinema.
Countryside Villages
Surrounded by beautiful countryside and the picturesque villages of Nannerch, Caerwys & Ysceifiog, The Old Mill is a perfect rural retreat. After a busy day sight-seeing, there are many pubs and restaurants locally to enjoy - With the well established Cherry Pie Inn next door to the Old Mill. With dog friendly cottages available, The Old Mill can really be a home from home for guests!

Colwyn Bay & Rhos on Sea
Is a pretty sea-side town without the crowds! It has a range of small shops, cafes, ice cream parlours and restaurants all conveniently located near the promenade. It’s a nice place for a stroll. In the summer months there’s a small crazy golf, and a play park with lido that’s popular with families. Theres a lovely walk to Colwyn Bay, along the newly renovated promenade which ends at the new Watersports centre. (1.8 miles in total)
Ruthin
The picturesque town of Ruthin, is small but it has a big personality!
It is well maintained and steeped in history, with many black and white Tudor buildings, including Nantclwyd House (National Trust) It also boasts a refurbished castle with gardens (Pictured above), where you can enjoy an afternoon tea watching the peacocks. It has a fabulous selection of antique shops, and local artisan and craft shops. Plus, there's a good craft centre with cafe at the bottom of town.
It's common to hear Welsh spoken here as the first language. There are also many Welsh souvenir's on offer.
Chester
Famed as being one of the prettiest cities in Europe, Chester is bursting with history. It was founded by the Romans over 2000 years ago, and has the most complete city walls in Britain. A unique feature of Chester are it's half timbered medieval buildings and two tiered rows, perfect for shopping in any weather! It's a bustling city, great for a day out shopping, taking a cruise on the river Dee or enjoying a meal or drinks in one of the city's many bars and restaurants.
Mold
The market town of Mold is a 15 minute drive from The Old Mill, it still holds regular market days every Wednesday and Saturday, and a cattle market every Monday and Friday morning. Mold also has a range of useful amenities including, supermarkets, banks, takeaways and a post office. The Theatre Clwyd is also a great asset for the town and holds regular productions throughout the year and also has a small cinema on site.
Llandudno
Benefiting from a beautiful promenade flanked by impressive Victorian and Edwardian architecture, Llandudno is a year round popular seaside resort. With two award winning beaches, complete with donkey rides and 'Punch and Judy' shows in the summer, and a traditional pier it has many things to occupy a visitor. Head to the Great Orme for beautiful walks and fantastic scenery, take a cable car or try the tramline which will take you to the summit. Explore the Copper mines, enjoy a day shopping or watch a show at 'Venue Cymru' theatre.
Llangollen
The drive to Llangollen via the horseshoe pass is spectacular! Its a great town and has plenty to offer for visitors. It has a good range of cafes, restaurants and gift shops. It's famous for its horse drawn canal boat trips, steam train rides through the beautiful valley and for the more adventurous, there are a range of watersports on offer, kayaking, rafting.. etc
Make sure you also visit Pontcysyllte Aquaduct, a UNESCO World heritage site famed for being the highest canal in the world. You can walk over it on foot or take a short boat trip.
Liverpool
Head to Liverpool One for fantastic shopping opportunities or visit the cavern club and soak up the ambience of live bands and history of the Beatles. Explore the Albert Dock for restaurants, cafés and a wide selection of 'Free entry' museums and galleries including the Tate gallery.

The Old Mill Holiday Cottages are conveniently located on the A541 between Mold and Denbigh in North Wales. The holiday cottages are 10mins from the A55 - westbound lies the beautiful Anglesey whilst eastbound links onto the M56 motorway.

The Old Mill offers a range of Four Star self-catering accommodation set in picturesque landscaped gardens that guests have full access to. All fully restored with a mix of old and new to retain the Old Mill charm and character. Each cottage is light and airy with dedicated off road parking. There is easy access to the extensive landscaped gardens with a footpath area for dog walking, lovely seating areas perfect for picnics and lovely views.
