Over the past few years, we have worked hard to lovingly restore our magnificent former mill building, to offer four high quality, 4-star holiday cottages to our guests. Whilst we are keen to preserve the rich history and unique character of this beautiful old building, we are also committed to embracing modern technological advancements to enhance sustainability, and minimise our environmental footprint, to contribute to sustainable cottages North Wales.
Our Objectives For Greener Energy Usage
Our objectives include improving energy efficiency, reducing our ecological impact, and taking proactive steps to address escalating energy costs. Through personal investment, and with the generous support of Cadwyn Clwyd, we have made significant investments and upgrades. These include the installation of a state-of-the-art A-rated energy efficient boiler to replace the outdated model, and the addition of secondary glazing, which was fitted internally to maintain the building's historical façade. This has improved thermal insulation and soundproofing, ensuring a greater level of comfort for our guests, and reducing operational costs.
New EV Chargers Installed
To promote the use of greener energy sources, we have installed a new 7kw EV charger, contributing to cottages with EV charge points, and have implemented a comprehensive waste recycling programme, compliant with the latest Welsh government regulations, offering separate recycling containers in each cottage for paper & card, glass, plastic & cans, and general waste, and large separate bins in our communal areas.
Sustainable Cottages North Wales - Our Commitment
Our commitment to sustainability extends to the development of a beautiful nature garden in North Wales alongside the ancient woodland behind the Old Mill. We have planted many native bulbs and shrubs, and installed bird boxes and bug houses, creating a sanctuary for wildlife, bees, and other pollinators, and providing a tranquil and peaceful area for our guests to enjoy - all contributing to the sustainability & eco improvements in North Wales.
